Nautilus Metal Detectors

I have owned a Nautilus metal detector for 15 years. It has helped me build a respectable collection of colonial and Civil War relics, as well as over 50 silver coins (most Spanish and English silver), and one gold coin (1851 one dollar gold piece). I have tried other metal detectors, but the Nautilus is my old work horse and has been a great relic hunting partner, leading me to numerous finds. I have found Minnie ball bullets at a depth of 18 inches, and silver coins at 12 inches. I once dug a nice Dragoon Coat button at 15". I use an 8 and 10 inch search coil for open fields and non trashy areas, and a 6 inch coil for trashy sites and areas numerous with targets. Some of my better finds include a Yankee breast plate at a depth of 20 inches, my 1851 1 dollar gold coin, a nice Confederate Staff Officer button, numerous Virginia buttons, two script I buttons, a 1791 Spanish 8 Reale found don a mountain top in TN, and over 50 silver Spanish and English coins (1600's - 1800's). The Nautilus is a great detector for hunting deep targets. It has proven itself to me, and I'll never use any other detector else again.

The Nautilus Dmc II Ba

Ever wonder what you missing while detecting? I ask myself that one question every time I get into my truck after searching a field, or old home site. I find it intriguing the science behind how objects such as coins settle in dirt over years. As time passes by I can imagine the coins sinking way down deep into the red clay and disappearing forever, which we all know is not true, but it still amazes me at depths some coins can be found. With that in mind I have been on a journey for the strongest, deepest detecting detector I could find, and one name always popped up, "Nautilus". Nautilus is not a company that advertises like many of the names you know by heart, they let their product speak for itself, and If any of you have been to a relic dig and seen some of the holes people dig with them you know exactly what I mean. Being a person that stays on top of my hobby I have purchased just about every high end detector and had wonderful results with them all. I would use them for awhile and sell one to get another one looking for that detector that laid my mind at ease about depth. I purchase most detectors from one guy here in Alabama and asked him this very question,"Whats the deepest detector ever made?" His reply, The Nautilus Detectors. So with that reply I purchased my first Nautilus, the Dmc II Ba. I drove to his house so he could show me the ends and outs of this machine because it seems likes its a complicated machine, but believe me its not. After 3 minutes I was detecting full speed with it and could understand basically what it was telling me. You have to go through steps to turn it on that are very easy, certain head phones must be used also which is very interesting to me and one of the best ideas to me ever. The Nautilus detectors do not have a outside speaker because they did not want any device taking away from the machines power, so stereo head phones must be worn. Now this machine talks to you and will have you concentrating like your possessed because you hear two different sound in the phones. In one side you hear your discrimination, the other all metal. So if you go over a iron object you will only hear hear the all metal side unless its not discriminated out. Now if you go over a silver quarter you will hear it in both phones at the same time, one all metal which is kinda low tones and the discrimination which is high! I love that feature personally, It keeps me on my toes and it slows me down while I am hunting. The weight of this detector is a bit heavy, but you can buy the mxt rod for it which mine is on and its light as a feather. The machines construction quality is definitely first class, this machine is built like a tank! Now for finding them deep relics and coins! I cannot write any first hand experience about this machine finding relics because I have yet to get out their and find any but I can tell you, Just ask any old relic hunters! You can find pictures of people standing in their holes that's amazing, but I can tell you about its ability to find deep silver coins. I have a neighbor where I live that is a WW2 vet and a retired Doctor. After finding out hos home was built in the 40's I asked permission to hunt and was granted permission to hunt anytime I would like. It wasn't long before I found my first Mercury dime. It was 8 inches under a tree root. The detector rang out a good signal loud and clear, then came another one, and another, and so on..... I was able to find 8 silver coins in his yard with depths from 3 inches to a silver pendant that was over 12 inches. I also located a gold ring that was almost 16 inches deep. I didn't feel comfortable digging a hole that deep in his yard but after finding all that silver I couldn't pass it up, he was very glad I dug that hole also. Come to find out that ring was given to him for his retirement from the military. So I don't think I will ever own another detector because this detector does exactly what I want it to, and I never feel like I have left anything behind. Its very hard to try and explain how deep a machine is, but believe me it blew my mind, and if you get to try one out you will see exactly what I am telling you, they are world class detectors that do not have to advertise, there performance do all the advertising they will ever need!!!! God bless and Good luck
