Description: The Tesoro Vaquero is a very versatile, all around detector, designed to do just about every kind of hunting you could want. With a 3 3/4 turn, manual ground balance, "HOT" (High Output Technology), and an ED180 "silent search" discriminator, a push button pinpoint, and a VCO style all metal mode, this detector at just under 2.2 pounds has "do anything power".

The
I bought my Vaquero used, it was modified, and came with a 3 by 18 Clean sweep coil. I had a ten turn pot put in to be able to fine balance the clean sweep coil. At 70, I have about 30 hours on the Vaquero ,and 48 years hunting. You can spend more money, but I think that this is the machine to have, cordially NadAverage rating:5.0 based on 3 reviews

Vaquero!!
I really like my Tesoro Vaquero. It is very light, easy to use, and a deep hitter. I bought this detector back in April 08. I use it quite a bit. I really like it when I am hitting an old home site. It is a deep hitter out of the box. The V is also super easy to pinpoint. I use the X method, I will cross over the target and normally do very well that way.One major thing I really like is how light and easy it is. I can swing it for long periods of time and not get tired.
I like th manual ground balance. It is a breeze to do once you get the hang of it. If I was nit picking the only negative would be the lack of a arm strap.
All in all I give it a 5 out of 5. I would buy again in a second, Beale.

My backup machine
I bought the Vaquero as a backup for my Tejon. The machine is easy to operate and does a good job on relics and coins. It discriminates well. I have the low tone model so it took a little getting used to after using the Tejon. It is very easy to ground balance. My first hunt with it I dug a civil war flag pole finial at about 13 inches. I have dug small pistol bullets at 10 inches with it super tuned, but if I backed off to use the pinpoint I lost the signal on them at that depth. I was able to find the targets without any problem even without the pinpointer being used. I would recommend this machine as a primary machine. From the information that I have heard from others the high tone option might add a little benefit.Average rating:5.0 based on 3 reviews
