Still the best!!!!

I have used and owned most makes of detectors, even the highly rated Nexus, they all do the same thing, some slightly better than others.
But I always come back to my Explorer two, it does take a while to learn to drive it, in fact its better than the SE which has a faster response time , to fast on those little silver hammerreds
that make the cross hairs on the Explorer jump about like crazy in the smart mode!!!.
I all so use a Soveriegn GT which is the explorers equal , but not so complicated, if Minelab could produce a hybrid of the two , with digital display, and the same discrimination it would be a winner, like you could waist mount it, and the construction of the soveriegn is simple, and stronger than the Explorer.

EXP II Is it the best?

I have used the Explorer II for about 2 years. I got used to the weight, the unit is a little heavier than others. I learned to swing slower as the unit does not like being swung fast. Is this a problem, it depends. By going slower I have noticed I cover the area better. Not much is left behind. As far as rejection the unit allows me to set up any I want. Now lets talk depth, it is a deep seeking machine, while some are as deep or a little deeper on iron or some relics the EXP II is deep on everything. The highlights of finds for me are: cut cob 1 Real, N.J. colonial copper, 2 gold diamond rings. A real nice mix. I have to admit that after two years I am still learning things about the machine. At this time I rate the EXP II the best, at least for me and my style of detecting.

A Great Metal Detector!!

I have a few detectors but the Explorer ll has become my favorite very quick. It is not hard to get started but will take a while to master. You will have to be patient when you use one for the first time. The tones are a little hard to get used to from a one tone detector but once you do its strange to go back to a one tone! It also has Great depth!I have dug a mid sized piece of scrap metal at about a foot and a half! And coins at about 10"to12". Pin Pointing is so easy I can get about 1/2" to a 1" so you know where to dig every time! The down side to this detector and the only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is the battery life but this doesn't matter too much if you have rechargeable batteries. It is a little on the heavy side but I can work it about 5 hrs without a sling or bungee. I really give it 4 1/2 stars!!

Proven the best.

Ask any Explorer II owner and you will know that the EXP II is the best. Until the EXP SE gets a little more time in the field and is also proven I think that it will remain the best. The EXP II is easy to use, understand and does things other detectors don't even think about. It has the rep of being heavy, I no longer wear a harness and sometimes detect for up to 8 hours a day. The more I use it the more I learn. Get and use an EXP II and you will never look back.
